Orthotics Makes The Difference
What’s so unique about our seating systems? In a word: Orthotics.
That is the health care field that makes supportive devices molded to fit an individual’s anatomy. Orthotics has been used mainly in shoes and for bracing arms, legs and the spine.

We use orthotic principles — and lots of TLC — to build a one-of-a-kind seating system that will support you in the most comfortable and correct sitting posture.

Our seating systems overcome the significant limitations of "mainstream" contoured seating systems.

    • Mainstream systems tend to be thick, bulky, and heavy.
    • Aspen Seating Orthoses are very thin, flexible, and lightweight, enhancing their capacity to promote and support comfortable and functional postures.

    • Mainstream systems can be extremely hot to sit in.
    • Aspen Seating Orthoses integrate a proprietary material that is effective in ventilating the trunk support. This ensures that you are not only comfortable, but cool as well.

    • Pressure distribution in mainstream systems works correctly only if you are positioned exactly right on the contours. Subtle changes in your posture may result in increased risk of pressure ulcers.
    • We construct your seating Orthosis in a fashion that eliminates the destructive forces of pressure and shear from areas of your body that are at risk of, or currently experiencing pressure ulcers. The contours provide room for movement and subtle postural change without increasing your risk for pressure ulcers. COMPUTERIZED PRESSURE MAPPING is utilized during the fitting process to make sure your system performs correctly.

    • Mainstream systems have limited to no mechanism for adjustment to accommodate growth or physical changes and have a limited warranty - 1 year or less, that may not include coverage beyond craftsmanship or materials.
    • Your Aspen Seating Orthosis can be easily adjusted and comes with a three year warranty, which includes adjustments for growth and change.

    • Portability of mainstream contoured systems between different wheelchairs relies on those wheelchairs being identically configured.
    • Your Aspen Seating Orthosis can be placed in most anything from wheelchairs to motorcycle side-cars. If it can be sat on, then it can most likely accept you in your Aspen Seating Orthosis.

    • Secondary supports, such as hip belts and shoulder harnesses, are not well integrated in mainstream systems and tend to 'hammock' over contours.
    • If you require any secondary supports, they will be laced directly through the contours of your system. This can dramatically improve your postural stability and control, as well as comfort.

    • Mainstream contoured systems are made of various foam materials, all of which have a limited therapeutic life.
    • Aspen Seating's refurbishment program prolongs the usefulness of your Aspen Seating Orthosis years beyond mainstream systems. Instead of replacing your system in one to two years at a cost of thousands of dollars, your system can be refurbished to original condition for a fraction of it's original price.
